How to change air filter on 997.1 TT ?
#2
It's very easy to do
Open your engine lid.
1. Pull the air cover straight up (1 hand on each of the openings and just pull up gently).
2. It will reveal the air filter. Air filter is held in with 4 screws. Unscrew and pull air filter out.
3. Replace air filter. Re-install the 4 screws, and reinstall the air cover.
It's THAT easy. 5 minute job.

I'm not sure what the recommended intervals are, but, I just change mine out every 10,000 miles since it is SO EASY to do, compared to an oil change.
I also use BMC. I just want my car to be breathing at its optimum. A dirty filter can only hurt performance and efficiency.

It is so much easier than the NA 997 air box. Only issues I've ever had are the two rubber grommets that the filter box pushes into at the bottom sometime want to come out. You can usually tell if they've gone missing because the box will have some additional movement to it when you put your hands on it.

2008 TT recommended replacement is 36,000 miles. I did mine at the 24,000 mile service because $40 for a filter is cheap compared to dirty air in the engine. I always replace the cabin filter at each 12,000 service.
