Anyone get a 40k service done recently? What did the dealer do and what was the cost? Is it considered a major or minor? I'm about to do my 40k, anything additional I should have them check??

I had a 40K service done a few months ago at a dealership. It was considered at a major service which included spark plugs and brake fluid flush. I paid $1600 for the service and it was painful.

 

pls correct me if I am wrong.
I don't think Porsche specify plug change at 40k miles.
I believe it is just an oil change, air filter (15 min max) and cabin filter (5 min max).

 

I was quoted little over $800. It was five year 30000k miles

 

It's considered major and, yes, they recommend changing the spark plugs at 36K miles for the 08 997.1 and 40K miles for the 997.2. For the 05-07 997.1, spark plugs at 60K miles. Here is the list for the 997.2. I changed the air and cabin filters myself as well as the wiper blades. Came to ~$1200 and included a new belt (which i requested replacement, not required until 60K miles), new spark plugs, change oil, brake fluid, and all of the 40K inspections underlined below. Takes most of the day to complete.

I got mine done around 42K miles and the dealer recommended plug change. I just followed their recommendations. My car was still under CPO warrenty at that time and I didn't want to take any chances.

 

Here is the check list for the 05-07 model years.

 

Just had oil change at dealer and asked about 4 year / 40k service. Its oil, filter, air filters, cabin filters, brake fluid, spark plugs, full check and inspection of car. I got an estimate of about 1200. Most of that is the plug change. This is at a SoCal dealer.

 

I got it done at Hegersheimer in Lake Forest....It ended up being about a $140 oil change! I got the air filter separately for $120. So, I guess $260 total wasn't bad! Go see Chris Sterling in Laguna at Grand Auto across the freeway from the Irvine Spectrum! Way cheaper. If your car needs major work, he'll hook you up with Vision Motorsport.

I just paid $790 before tax for a major service including new plugs. I was not charged for a new air filter as I run a BMC.
